In 1954 BSA won the 200 mile expert race at Daytona Beach.
It was BSA's greatest win in America's Greatest Race and the greatest ever performance for a single manufacturer at Daytona.

BSA hailed the event as "The finest record ever established at Daytona by any motorcycle manufacturer.." and it was.

Yet they did very little to capitalise on the success in the UK and the passage of time has not been much kinder - the event had not earned more than a passing comment in books about BSA or Motorycle racing history.

So 50 years later a group of enthusiasts in Scotland and the USA decided to hold a 50th anniversary celebration of this historic win by restoring two of the Daytona racing bikes.

These were displayed at a number of special events organised during Bike Week at Daytona, Florida 2004. The events were attended by the original BSA riders, other famous racers from that period, ex- BSA employees and hundreds of BSA fans.

It was the the biggest BSA event of the year!

But if you didn't get there enjoy the words and pictures recorded in our Daytona Diary.
